The Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) invites all media to the launch of its People's Health Manifesto.
 
The manifesto contains 11 health-related questions that we will put to political parties in the run-up to the elections on May 7th. In this way we hope to sensitise political parties to key issues in our health system and to seek clarity on how parties intend to respond to these issues.

Sthembiso Memela, Provincial Treasurer of the Treatment Action Campaign was severely assaulted and left for dead on Thursday night. According to reports Memela was on his way home from a branch induction meeting on the TAC’s soon-to-be-released health manifesto in Elandskop and was a few metres from his grandmother’s house in KwaDambuza when he was assaulted at 8pm with a yet to identified heavy object.
 
The group of attackers pummeled him on his neck, head and the rest of his body, dragging him to the middle of the road, clearly in the hope that a car would run him over....

It has been over six years since the government began developing the draft policy on intellectual property that has been the focus of major public controversy following the PharmaGate scandal. The Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) is deeply concerned with the quality of healthcare services and leadership in the Free State.
 
In 2013 we received frequent reports of medicine stockouts and poor conditions at clinics and hospitals in the Free State.
